During the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of telemedicine for medical consultations has become widely accepted. Nonetheless, a major barrier for doctors to adopt telemedicine is the inability to examine their patients, such as to listen to the patient's lung and heart using a stethoscope. The lack of these data poses a risk to their medical diagnosis and treatment plan. This inspired my team to use AI technology to turn a patient's mobile phone into a 'virtual stethoscope'. This is the birth of the ausculto® technology which is now in our Vitogram® mobile app. A core feature of ausculto® is that it enables a user to capture their own heart sound without the need of a specialised medical device. With the wide availability of modern smartphones, anyone can digitalise their heart and lung sound anytime and anywhere! This technology makes tele-auscultation possible, and makes digitalisation of ones' own health data readily available. This experience has shown us how AI and digital health innovation can tangibly improve people's health.
With the vision to harness digital innovation to transform healthcare in a connected world, we founded Vitome Limited in May 2023. Our mission is simple: to enable everyone to benefit from their own health data. As a bioinformatics and digital health researcher with more than 15 years of experience, I have seen how the widespread digitalisation of the human genomes has transformed healthcare such as precision cancer therapy. At Vitome™, we believe the widespread digitalisation of human vital health data such as heart sound and respiratory rate can transform everyone's health.
Based in Hong Kong, Vitome™ serves the digital health needs of the Asia Pacific region and beyond. We are keen to partner with like-minded people and organisations who are devoted to improve the health of their community. Come talk to us!
